Nicole, I see that it may only get worse. Many firms are starting to lower base pay and bonus out with the number of billable hours. In these circumstances,pay is technically cut for the same work unless you reach a certain milestone. If one is a mom and wants to have a reasonable life with family, then you will never reach partner.

I guess it comes down to choices - it's hard to do both.
