Today's round up of less-than-stellar prosecutors isn't particularly funny. Sometimes, prosecutors are as human as the rest of us and when they fall, they fall hard. And, recently, prosecutors have been accused of some pretty awful crimes:
- Thomas Longo, former suburban prosecutor, arrested in Mexico by U.S. Marshal deputies: This guy tried to flee to Mexico, but he couldn't avoid the writing on the wall. Read the article to learn of all of the tawdry accusations against Mr. Longo.
- Texas Prosecutor Kills Himself as Police Try to Serve Sex Offense Warrant: "Louis "Bill" Conradt Jr., 56, a chief felony assistant district attorney in Texas, died Sunday. Police had moved to arrest Conradt following a sting operation aimed at exposing child sex predators set up by a television news program." (Hat tip: Legal Reader).
- Federal prosecutor arrested in fatal crash : "Authorities arrested a Jacksonville-based federal prosecutor Tuesday on a vehicular homicide charge for what they said was his role in the death of a 23-year-old woman in a March wreck in St. Johns County...Florida Highway Patrol reported Gallagher was speeding in his BMW convertible along Florida A1A north of Beachside Drive on March 25 when he rear-ended a Chevrolet Tahoe about 7 p.m."
Of course, just like prosecutors, the rest of us lawyers are human and we all make mistakes as well--even our esteemed colleagues on the bench.
