Hello! I'm a 25 year-old single white male. I'm 5'11 with blue eyes,
and while I’m no He Man, I’m not a fatass either (I’ve been called
“cuddly”). I'm a lawyer (although I’m not one of THOSE lawyers…I’m into
human rights and anti-discrimination work) and I’m working on my
Master’s. I'm a leftist, but not radically so. I'm clean, in good
health, and confident, but not unjustifiably cocky. I like to think I'm
considerate, laid-back but cultured, too charming for my own damn good,
understanding, and not the jealous type (although "not the jealous
type" doesn't mean naive). I'm a lot of fun, and somewhat particular.
With that said, I suppose I’ll start off Julie Andrews style and tell
you about some of my favorite things.
GOING OUT: I don't mind staying in once in a sometimes, but I do like to get out and see what there is too. When I'm not trying to convince you that I'm cool enough to email, I enjoy diners, good beer, shooting pool, going to plays, walks (especially around embassy row), hot tea, sleeping in, falling deep into some conversation I never planned on getting into, and maybe getting into a small bit of trouble. I generally don't like clubs, but St. Ex is the exception to that rule for good music and a sense of style.
MUSIC: I enjoy many kinds of music. Some favorites includes Arcade Fire, Camera Obscura, Joy Division, Gza, Django Reinhardt, My Bloody Valentine, MF Doom, Dizzee Rascal, New Order, Rolling Stones (only the early stuff), the B-52's, Beirut, The Cure, Daniel Johnston, Hank William, Animal Collective, The Kinks, Joanna Newsom, EL-P, M83, Burzum, James Brown, Teengenerate, Velvet Underground, Girl Talk, Ramones, Dick Dale, Nausea, Ray Charles, Bad Brains, Peaches, and the list goes on. My ipod has everything from the obligatory indie rock, hip hop, delta blues, dub, funk, and ambient to Ethiopian Jazz, Peruvian Psych, Norwegian Black Metal, Thai disco, Bulgarian Choral Pieces, and Japanese pop.
FILM: I love foreign and indie films. You can almost always sucker me into watching something by Anderson, Hanneke, Hitchcock, Coppola, Kurosawa, Godard, Rohmer, Almodovar, and that sort of thing. If something is on at Bethesda Row, E Street, or the Silver, there's a good chance I'll want to see it.
Just a few of my favorite films include Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, Metropolitan, The Godfather (I and II), Breathless, Masculin Feminin, Ghostbusters (I watched this all the time at grandma’s house when I was little), Lost in Translation, Pulp Fiction, Ran, Throne of Blood, Amelie, and Cache.
BOOKS: I like the classics. Homer, Euripides, Sophocles, and the like. I'm working my way through those other literary classics though. I also really enjoy old comics like Little Nemo and Krazy Kat. Calvin and Hobbes is pretty good too.
OTHER CULTURE: I'm usually up for new experiences in the arts and music. I'm a slightly picky eater, but very much working on it. I don't watch that much TV, but I do love Arrested Development and Home Movies. Dan Savage is pretty interesting too. I'm a fan of the museums and various exhibits around town.
TURN OFFS: I’m not a big fan of poor hygiene, people who assume they’re better than people who are different than they are, or people who are all work and no play.
TURN ONS: I like women who are around my age or are a little younger, have an education or are pursuing one, are clean, know how to have fun, don’t have any drug problems (I wouldn’t count occasionally smoking weed as a problem, but I would count smoking multiple times a week), and share some similar interests with me.
If you like what you read, well, you know what to do :)

And apparently he's also into over-sharing. That should make for a rewarding career in the Senate with a shot for running as Vice President. Now it would be really funny if that was posted in "casual encounters."
